We Do Custom Orders! Reclaimed. Repurposed. Upcycled.

It's been over three years that Urban Patina has been officially in business. The time has flown by, sometimes much much faster then we would have liked. But along the way, we have grown and changed and evolved a ton. It's been a great ride so far, I love where we've been and am so excited about where we are going!

My blog post today is a reminder that we offer so many services...here is a breakdown of sorts.

FURNITURE:
{refinishing}
We modernize solid wood furniture so that it looks up to date and on trend for current lifestyles. We have an inventory of pieces and are always picking up more. If you are looking for something in particular, shoot us a message and we can check our current inventory or start searching for the perfect piece for you.

{custom fabrication}
We create custom industrial pieces for your home or business too. We can use your reclaimed lumber to complete a project so that you can have the history of your family farm to use in your home for years to come or we have a stash of reclaimed lumber in stock to pull from.

HOME DECOR:
We create a wide variety of home decor too. Throughout the year we show our wares at local pop up sales and by appt out of our home studio.
Clocks, custom signs(hand painted and industrial), candle sticks, wall hangings etc.

We spend an immense amount of time making sure every piece is completed with a high level of quality and craftsmanship. Every Urban Patina product is handcrafted to look great and last for a very long time!

Contact us if you have a project you want our help on!

Antique Buffet {Repurposed}

When we brought this buffet home I was thrilled at the find and thought I would do some quick cosmetic work and get painting.

Easy, right?

Not so quick, it wasn't going to be that easy!

To my surprise {and complete frustration}, the drawers that came with it were so badly damaged and warped that once I removed them...they were never ever going to go back into place! Even though I was disappointed that they weren't functioning {and that we failed to realize this before we purchased it}, this was still a really gorgeous piece with great bones so I needed to repurpose it and give it a new look! I've been down this road many times before and knew I had options. So without hesitation, I tossed the drawers and grabbed some wood and converted the spaces into some shelves.

I've staged it with some fun baskets that would be great for storing goodies, but you could also use this as a media stand or to store linens in a hallway.

I'm very pleased with the completed project, I hope you like it as much as I do!

Finished with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, French Linen.

Thanks for taking a look! Enjoy your Sunday!

Repurposed Dresser Ideas on Hometalk

A couple weeks ago, I was asked by Hometalk to curate a repurposed dresser inspiration board. I was so thrilled for the opportunity, I immediately accepted and got busy pulling projects together.

There are so many creative things you can do with dressers. I found everything from vanities to dog beds, benches to apothecary cabinets, bars, media centers to bookshelves and on and on. I've pulled together 21 Dresser Flips that should hopefully spark some inspiration for your next project.

So before you decide to toss out your old dresser, you might want to take a minute to think about how you could repurpose it for another life.

Thanks for dropping by, have a great week!

Vintage Wood Spool Tree Art

It's confession time...

Unless it involves stitch witchery and a hot iron...I CAN'T SEW! I've tried, really I have. But I just don't have the knack or the patience. Every now and again I think I should give it a try, but it only ends up as an epic fail. So I've decided to stick with what I can do well...

What I can do well is gather cool stuff {junk} all year long in hopes that a fresh or clever idea might strike and I can put all that cool stuff to good use!

Take these vintage wood thread spools. I picked these up months ago and looked at them everyday hoping to come up with a good use for them. Then out of the blue the idea hits...line these buggers up on some old boards and make some funky tree spool art.

Yes!

Here's how I did it:
I cut up some old chippy boards I had laying around, sanded the edges and clear coated the finish. Then I laid out the spools on the boards {to get the spacing right} and hot glued them into place. I split one of the larger green spools in half to make the trunk and glued that on to the board too. Then as luck would have it, in my pile of cool stuff,  I had the perfect rusty stars to adorn the tops of the trees!

Confession time again...I'm smitten by these funky trees!

A Well Crafted Tree Farm

We have been making so many crafts these past few weeks that I haven't stopped long enough to realize that I'm sitting amidst a tree farm! I have all sorts of trees in my lineup this year, here is one of my favorites!

This project was a labor of family love...by that I mean that my mom, dad and husband all helped bring this idea to reality. From peeling the pine cones to patiently gluing them on the crafting cones and then creatively adhering them to antique light fixture bases...we all had something to do with the process and I'm so thrilled with how they turned out.

We used various spindles for the tree trunks as well as many different antique light fixtures for the bases. Everyone of these is a bit different!

Thanks for taking a peek. I'll have another tree project to share with you all tomorrow!
