Onward and UPward: 2018

A memory popped up on our Facebook feed today to remind us that on this day last year, we opened our brick and mortar in Chaska. What a great year it was, but where on earth did the time go? Seems somewhat a blur, but man was it fun.

Here's what is going on in our world these days ...

When we closed the store for the holidays in mid December, we stumbled upon a cute house just two blocks up the street that had a retail space available to rent. From the minute we walked in, the space just felt 'right'. It was cozy, had great lighting and was so inviting. (And in all honesty, I had driven by the house for years and had always been smitten by vines that cover half the house---it's fabulous when it greens up.)

Faced with the decision to sign another lease at our current building or move up the street…we quickly decided to move. (wasn’t too hard of a decision, the new location would be located right next to the new bakery in town---hello fresh pastries and high powered coffee #sweettooth #caffeineordie)

We opened the doors at 416 N Chestnut St on February 15th. We'll continue to be an occasional store,  open only the third Thursday, Friday and Saturday each month, but plans are in also place to have more Pop-Up events throughout the year. We encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all those updates.

Paul and I want to sincerely thank you all for your continued support over the years. Everyone of you is so very important to UP's success and continued growth.

Onward and UPward!

Our July Sale!

We opened our first brick and mortar earlier this spring. Then we had the opportunity to expand our space and take on a bit more square footage, so we closed for the month of June and just reopened in July. If you didn't make it out, let me tell you the additional space is really great. More space, means we have more room to showcase our handcrafted goods.

Here is a peek at what was instore these past couple weeks.

Hope to see you in August.
OPEN 17th-20th, 10a-4p each day!

We opened a brick and mortar!

Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted...but I have a very good reason. We have been preoccupied prepping and opening our first store! Seriously, a real brick and mortar! It's small, it's quaint, but it's UP and we love everything about it and hope you will too!

Our opening weekend was in March and it was simply fabulous! If you came out to see us, thank you so much and if you weren't able to make it by in March, we will be one again in one week.

Just a quick breakdown on our shop, the location, when we are open and a few other factoids and then I will share a bunch of pictures from last months sale.

We are located at 220 Chestnut St in Chaska, Minnesota. We are an occasional store, open the third weekend of every month: thursday-sunday, 10-4 each day. (I still work a full-time job so for the time being, these are the hours we are able to maintain, but remember, you can always shop our goods at Shop 501 & Company, 5 days a week, every week!)

We are selling primarily our handcrafted goods, but we are also bringing in a few curated products from other amazing Minnesota companies. The first two businesses that we are partnering with are  both women-owned candle makers. The first is Excelsior Candle Company. Heidi makes some fabulous candles in the cutest vessels, modern fragrances and clever names (like downtown loft and spa day). The other candle maker we partnered with is Nelli Designs. If you are an animal lover (like Paul and I) you will just love these candles. The jars feature original illustrations + cute phrases, the scents are sensational and the Nelli brand itself have a beautiful back story. I have a real obsession for candles but not just any kind will do. I want candles that burn clean + evenly and have wonderful natural smelling fragrances, both of these candle brands are all that!

Here are just a few pictures from inside our shop last month...

We have a big 'ol decal on the window now, so we are easy to find.

If you see this sandwich board out, well then 'heck ya', we're OPEN!

We hope to see you next week for our April sale!

Handcrafted Console Table

I'm proud as heck to say that I built a few console/entry/sofa tables from the ground up a few weeks back. Made primarily from salvaged spindles and  reclaimed shiplap, I think they turned out quite cool if I do say so myself.

Here are a couple shots of them in the shop, at various stages.

If you want to see more pictures of projects that we are working on, you can find me more regularly on facebook and instagram.

Dualing Dressers

Two different dressers today; empire and serpentine. The empire is finished in a custom Annie Sloan Chalk Paint mix: a dark, rich navy. The serpentine is also ASCP: a crisp, fresh, classic white.

Enjoy.

Reclaimed wood wall art. Handpainted signs. Dipped hearts. And a dresser for good measure.

I've been awol from the blog for over a month now, but I'm back and have so many exciting things happening I don't know quite where to start!

I got a great gift this year for Christmas. No outrageous jewelry or a fabulous trip out of this tundra we live in ... instead, it was something I had been wanting for over 4 years now. I was finally able to purchase the Urban Patina domain name! Complete geek, I know! But man you have no idea how incredibly giddy that makes me. {now I just have to find time to amp up the design of the website}

So after a couple weeks of enjoying the holidays, resting and regrouping, I've got a few projects to share today.

Reclaimed Wood Wall Art

Handpainted Signs

Dipped Wood Hearts

Refreshed Amish Dresser

We have lots of exciting things on the horizon this year ... I hope you will continue to follow along on our journey!

Here we go, full speed into 2017!

Not Just One, But Two Nightstands

The holidays are well underway {no shock to any of you I'm sure}, hence my hiatus from posting on the blog for, like, um...two months---eek!

Things have been amazingly busy between Urban Patina projects and the demands of my 'real' job. The days are flying by and not nearly enough hours. Thanks to you all for the continued support of Urban Patina and the handcrafted creation that we make. I receive messages everyday from wonderful followers, inquiring about custom orders, special projects and show schedules. I get your messages, everyone of them and I'm doing my best to respond as quickly as possible. I appreciate your patience while I try to balance my time!

Enough of that and on to these nightstands! These beauties were bound to be adorable no matter what color I painted them, but it's the hardware that pushes these girls over the edge.

These will be up for sale very soon, I encourage you to follow UP on Facebook and Instagram for more up to date activities.
