Traditional Oak Two Tone Dresser

This girl has been buried in the garage for a few months now and I just had to dig her out...mainly because I needed to make room for more goodies!

The drawers were in such nice shape and the wood grain so beautiful that I simply gave them a quick buff and a new coat of poly. The body of the dresser is painted a warm taupe, distressed and waxed. (The pictures don't show the color of the paint the best)

I really like the look of the natural wood and paint combo on this piece, very classic.

Have a great week!

Fresh Vintage Cabinet

This little number lived in my parents basement for as long as I can remember. I think it was a cabinet out of an old home, some sort of built-in type unit. It's really solid and has gorgeous hardware. It was stained very dark and in much need of a face lift.

I thought this would be a good test project for Annie Sloan's chalk paint that I am slowly falling in love with! A couple rounds of old white, some distressing and a light coat of wax...now it's looking better then ever.

Just a side note, I was recently at one of the big box stores and saw a slightly smaller cabinet but similar in style to this one...it was constructed out of pressed wood, not solid wood and they were asking $149! OMGsh, that's outrageous! This is why I'm so passionate about rescuing well constructed pieces, breathing new life into them and making them lovable again.

Have a super Sunday:)

Vintage Red Buffet

I have had this buffet for a few months now because I just couldn't decide what color to paint her. And then one night my husband and I were out having dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant and the owner suggested that I do a red buffet.

BRILLIANT idea, simply BRILLIANT!

I used my favorite red and went to work on this girl. Not all reds are created equal mind you, some are too pink and some are too orange. But this red is smooth, rich and deep. She is adorned with her original accessories(hardware), distressed in all the right places and finished with a couple coats of poly.

Oh and those legs, just look at those legs!! *insert whistle* :)

Hope you have a great weekend!

Red Vintage Dresser

An early morning rummage sale resulted in this purchase. I cleaned it up and painted it my favorite red...she'll certainly brighten up any room now!

I'm still contemplating whether or not I can part with this one:)

Thanks for looking - have a great day!

Warm Mustard Tables

When I picked up these two little tables I knew it was time to paint them a nice warm fall color...and mustard is one of my favorites. Both are nice solid tables and are cute as can be with new paint!

I also included a couple metal military bins in this picture, wouldn't they be fun loaded with fall decorations--corn, gourds and pumpkins!

Thanks for looking:)
